I was the Secretary of Yeovil Rugby Club, formerly Ivel Barbarians RFC, for 8 years and in 2015 I decided to organise a 7's tournament to help raise funds for the Club and to celebrate the Rugby World Cup which was being held in England.
With the support of another prominent member of the Club, we organised all aspects of the tournament on a volunteer basis, from sponsors, to marketing, and scheduling of the tournament.
In the inaugural year the event attracted 14 teams and ran over 2 days, with outside vendors, pop up bars and live music.

The feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive and as such the event became a firm favorite on the 7's summer calendar, with the same teams returning each year.
Over the next 5 years Yeovil 7's grew, with over 30 teams entering and taking part in 2018 and the campsite full of spectators and those taking part.
The event helped the club manage through the usually low earning summer season.
I was responsible for all aspects of the event management, on the day running of the event, team management, playing schedules, marketing and budgets.
